HI I WAS ABOUT TO POST A BLOG  ON ITM VS ROI  WHEN I SAW  A POST FROM ShaneC1231

ASKING ABOUT HIS 35% ITM FIGURE ,HERE IS A COPY OF THAT POST PLUS A BIT MORE DETAIL

R.O.I = Return On Investment ie how much $ you get back vs how much $ you have invested e.g invest $10.00 for a return of $12.00 = an ROI of $2.00 normall represented as 20%

I.T.M = In The Money ie The amount of times you make the Money Payouts in a Poker Tournament eg. Play 100 Tournaments ,make the money 20 times = ITM 20% .Howver this figure does not show if you just made a minimum cash ,often only equal to about 1 x  to your Buy In amount  or if you finished 1st for a large payout or anywhere between these two points.

Hi I have a mantra for poker that I adapted from business

ITM IS VANITY ROI IS SANITY

This is a play on " Turnover is Vanity , Profit is Sanity"

I used to investigate businesses that had problems HUGE TURNOVER ,some multi millions of dollars ,but they were going broke ,there was two reasons (1) Fraud ,which doesnt apply here (2) NO PROFIT !.If your turning over $1,000,000 but its costing $1,000,001 to do so your stuffed arent you ? no profit no point.

Same with Poker

How often you are ITM does not mean a lot if your only min cashing all the time,it is even possible to have a huge ITM and still have little or even no profit, so why its great to say "Im in the money 35%of time" Its a hell of a lot better to say "Im ITN 5% of time but making ROI of 20% because when I go ITM I go deep"
So if your not tracking your ROI then dont worry about your ITM its just an ego driver if not being looked at with ROI considerations.
Thats what I think and certainly when Im looking at Staking a Horse (a player who has my $ invested in them) Im always looking more at ROI than ITM in fact a high ITM but low ROI is a huge RED FLAG for me and if that is true for your game it should be for you also as its pointing to a leak in your middle /late game ,the $$$ end of the game,so best you find & track your ROI asap
