When I first started playing on this site, and particularly in the PSO games, I was one of those venters complaining about all the bad players and bad beats and constantly getting knocked out of tournaments early. My post on donk plays actually stayed in the hot topics for many days back in July. Now, a month later, I am grateful for both the experience of getting kicked around game after game and for the forum to vent my frustrations. I have learned a lot in a short time here. I rarely am getting taken down by these maniacs now, and I accept that it IS going to happen from time to time. I most likely would not have been able to grasp this concept without PSO, and could easily have become discouraged and abandoned my desire to try to become a better player due to the initial frustrations had it not been for this resource. Although I finished July close to the bottom (thanks to not understanding donk play), I am keeping in the top 100 for the most part so far this month. I have even made it to the money in 3 or 4 real money tournaments in the last couple of weeks. IMO I love this site, read a lot of the forums and occasionally refer back to the course material. And I appreciate the effort that the many people involved put into truly helping us all become better poker players. Thank you PSO for that. I also enjoy the feeling that comes with being part of an active community of people who are all interested in the same thing, even though I am sitting here alone at my computer. I have also enjoyed meeting fellow beginners at the PSO tables and learning more about them through the table talk. I have noticed that sometimes it is hard to get a conversation started at the game table. I guess that this is because those players are taking the game extremely seriously. I have taken the next step in my poker endeavors too. I have started playing in the .05/.10 and .10/.25 cash ring games, focusing on PL Omaha. My initial successes have been sporadic and spotty, but I do think that I will be able to improve and start building a bankroll. I know that I need to work on my focus and play consistency. One thing, these small cash games have allowed me to accumulate VPP's rather more quickly than I had expected. I am currently less than 50 VPP's from hitting the Silver level, AND I have accumulated more than enough FPP's to buy myself a Poker Stars cap. I ordered it yesterday and can't wait for it to get here!!! LOL. Next is going to be the golden shark card protector. And then a black Poker Stars t-shirt (Poker Stars is one of very few brands that I don't mind being a walking advertisemnt for). And then, maybe, the Porshce convertible. But wait, I am getting ahead of myself.....
