I was in a 1-2-1 with my boss today. I am a salesman and part of my job is to make sales calls over the phone.

I had a day where I called into about 100 customers, the goal was to get some of those customers to commit to a quote for the solution I was promoting as part of the calling day.

I got about 20 good calls out of 100 or so calls and none of them commited to a quote.

We are a month later and my boss is discussing the 1-2-1 with me and the call out session above was remarked.

I explained to my boss that I made effort calling out to the customers and it was unfortunate I couldn't get any commitments, I did well on my calls and that wasn't the issue.

Now the interesting part, the reason I am posting this is because I stopped myself from referencing a poker idiom and in my head I was saying

"...like in Poker, you can't be results orientated."

Its funny sometimes how Poker leaks into our everyday lives!
