Well I stumbled out of the gate entering one tournament yesterday and exiting just as fast. I think I had a New Year Hangover but I didn't drink. I didn't even go out. I am nursing pneumonia. Anyway today I am still feeling crummy and I looked it in the next tournament. Given the last post about setting some New Year's PSO resolutions I had to right this ship immediately.

I took out my handy Hold'em manager app and low and behold saw the leak immediately. I was fishing again. It is a bad habit I am in the process of breaking. You know fishing you have Ah Qh ans flop 2h3h 7s and some guy who has2-2 just flopped his set and is betting into you but you know the last heart is coming... and it doesn't and he put you all in and out in a matter of two or three turns?

Armed with that and the fact that the JETS were in the playoffs I decided to grab a tea and honey and try again in the 3pm game. (that's 1500 for my Euro tour fans...)

In the afternoon game, I got a little more choosy about hand selection and in a 1600+ tournament just missed the cash by 20 coming in at 240. That ought to help the old score.

I went out on a bad read:

I didn't have him on the King I thought he was Jack high.

That lead to my going out two hands later in desperation. In retrospect I just should have stayed pat until I got ITM. Next time I will wait it out. I fell one hundred places and finished 240ish out of 1690. That would put some points up.

I decided I was mostly making good decisions again and I went for the 5pm tournament. What a tournament  I had.

The early going was a steady climb. I am aggressive and I find that in the beginning of tournaments I am usually ahead until everyone figures me out. I am working on eliminating betting tells but if anything the one big change is I am betting my hands harder. I was more of a calling station when on line. In Brick and Motar Casino games I am far more secure in betting. I also find I bluff less.

Anyway. my favorite hands in this match came at the expense of an antagonist. I have blotted out his name because I do not want to use this blog to attack anyone, but he wa coming at me the whole match and I needed to put him away. I got lucky in that I had a set up hand the hand before.

I liked my move here. (firing out 4X the BB) I didn't want anybody coming in and I also wanted to take my agitant's blind. I was right he got very pissed off. Though I didn't show he decided I had bluffed. Actually he thought I was bluffing all day. He had me as a fish. I can be but I am not always. Anyway I wasn't really bluffing but I had to make a hand. XXXXXXXX69  was very blind protective and the next hand gave me a chance to cripple him While he remained on tilt.

Both had me as a bully/bluffer because I do play some junk. OTOH if they were a little more observent they would note that I don't usually go beyond the flop if I miss it I am not usually fishing but like in the morning session, sometimes old habits die hard. Anyway. I loved breaking him. That is the last time he will suggest when i win a hand he will suggest I was bluffing. Actually he was wrong half the time. Guido 101 had a better read on me. I met him later in the tournament and he in fact busted me out later on with KQs v. my A-7o.I went out on in the top 40!! Now that ought to earn some action on the leaderboard.

With 4 tournaments down and a cash I am well on my way to qualifying hitting 1525 points and cashing this month. Let's see how the rest of the month goes.
